Stephen Ministry

"All who need consistent compassionate care will receive it in ChriST's name."

Christ the King Lutheran Church is a Stephen Ministry Congregation.  Stephen Ministry has been a vital part of the overall ministry of Christ the King since 2003.  The mission of our Stephen Ministry team is "to show God's love through Christian care."   To learn more about one-on-one Christian care, contact our team of Stephen Leaders by email at  All correspondence is kept confidential.

A Stephen Minister is:

  • a child of God who walks beside a person who is hurting

  • a congregation member with gifts for care giving

  • a person who was carefully selected to serve in this role,

  • a lay person who has received 50+ hours of training in providing emotional and spiritual care

  • a caring Christian friend who listens, prays for and with, supports and encourages

  • someone who will be there for their care receiver meeting faithfully for about an hour each week for as long as there is a need

A care receiver at CTK has commented, "Your Stephen Minister is your 'safe place' to be open with your feelings, fears, worries.  When you don't want to burden your family or friends you know she is there to listen."

We all feel overwhelmed from time to time.  Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness, so please contact us if we can help you through a difficult time.
